3. De-motivated and lacking vision
The Challenge
J.M., the director of an established and growing firm, felt the company was starting to drift through lack of vision. J.M. was feeling frustrated and de-motivated. This wasn’t helped by an awareness of his reluctance to tackle a difficult staff issue, which was impacting on the team.
The Solution
We started by exploring the underlying issues of giving negative feedback. Once this was recognised and addressed, J.M was able to develop new strategies to communicate more effectively, and gave him the confidence to handle conflict situations more assertively. Through discussing and expanding J.M.’s vision of the company, new roles have been assigned for the directors and a new staff appraisal system has been introduced.
The Result
A ‘dramatic improvement’ through handling conflict with more confidence. J.M. is now more motivated and in a position to influence the firm’s future. This has had a ripple effect throughout his team. They now sense that the firm has a greater sense of direction, a stronger leader, and they are more motivated to be part of the firm’s future.
‘Coaching has helped me discover my own capabilities, kept me focused and helped me believe again in myself and our business.’
J.M. Managing Director.
